Meet the teaching team


Jenny Reece - Owner

Jenny is a qualified Early Childhood teacher and has been teaching for 25 years, she has 10 years experience in Kindergarten and 15 years within childcare education.

It is a priority to Jenny to develop relationships with whanau and the Flippers teaching team and therefore works on the floor within the teaching team on a weekly basis to ensure she has a relationship with the whole Flippers whanau. 

Jenny aims for children to gain positive relationships and extend their learning while gaining a joy for learning at Early Learning at Flippers. 

Lizzy Ferris

Lizzy has been Co-Manager for the past seven years, she has worked at Flippers since 2008 after completing a teacher practicum at Flippers through Dunedin College of Education where she studied both Early Childhood Education and Early Primary Teaching. Lizzy leads the tuakana teaching team, working with Victoria and Stephanie with the over 3’s. She is passionate about active movement and uses music to engage children in this area.  She really enjoys following the children's interests and creating exciting and fun learning experiences for the children to explore.

Kim Woods

For the last seven years Kim has worked three days a week as Co-Manager at Flippers, she has been teaching since 2006. She leads the teina teaching team working alongside Lisa and Monika with the under 3’s. Kim is particularly enthusiastic about making creative spaces for children to learn and play and has an interest in researching strategies for supporting positive behaviour. 

Lisa Davis

Lisa began working at Flippers as an Education Support Worker before starting work as a teacher and completing in -work teacher training through Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa, Lisa works alongside Kim and Monika with the teina children (under 3’s) she also works with Lizzy creating our awesome Rā Ngāhere programme. She is interested in promoting learning and exploration in nature and the outdoors. 

Victoria Taylor 

Victoria has a Bachelor of Teaching 0-8. She works alongside Lizzy and Stephanie planning for the tuakana children. She has experience with Reggio Emilia which has taught her to create an environment full of curiosity and wonder to enable the children to become creative learners. Victoria also enjoys bringing children together through music and movement and supporting them to become active learners through fun. 

Emilie Vandapuye 

Emilie works at Flippers supporting both the teina and tuakana teaching teams as a Teachers Aide. Emilie has a passion for languages and providing stimulating experiences for children

Monika Gamble 

Monika works alongside Kim and Lisa with the under 3's. Monika is currently studying while she works with Te Rito Maioha to gain her Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. Her interests include developmental psychology and the Pikler and RIE approach to care and education. Previous to teaching at Flippers Monika has had over 10 years experience working with young children as a home based educator. 



Stephanie Cook is the newest member of the Flippers teaching team. Stephanie works alongside Lizzy and Victoria with the over 3's. Stephanie is passionate about ensuring children and families have a sense of belonging and enjoys following and supporting children's interests especially in the outdoors.
She fluently uses te reo and tikanga Maori within her teaching and is currently studying Level 2 Te Reo Maori with Southern Institute of Technology.
