Meet the teaching team


Jenny Reece - Owner

Jenny is a qualified early childhood teacher and has been teaching for 24 years, she has 10 years experience in Kindergarten and 14 years within childcare education.
Jenny sees relationships with whanau as a priority, the partnership between teachers and whanau is very important.
Jenny aims for children to gain positive relationships and extend their learning while gaining a joy for learning at Early Learning at Flippers. 

Lizzy Ferris

Lizzy has been Co-Manager for the past six years, she has worked at Flippers since 2008 after completing a teacher practicum at Flippers through Dunedin College of Education where she studied both Early Childhood Education and Early Primary Teaching. Lizzy works alongside Nikki and Victoria with the tuakana children (over 3’s). She is passionate about active movement and uses music to engage children in this area.  She really enjoys following the children's interests and creating exciting and fun learning experiences for the children to explore.

Kim Woods

For the last six years Kim has worked three days a week as Co-Manager at Flippers, she has been teaching since 2006. She works alongside Lisa and Monika with the teina children (under 3’s). Kim is particularly enthusiastic about making creative spaces for children to learn and play and has an interest in researching strategies for positive behaviour management. 

Lisa Davis

Lisa began working at Flippers as an Education Support Worker before starting work as a teacher and completing in -work teacher training through Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa, Lisa works alongside Kim and Monika with the teina children (under 3’s) she also works with Nikki creating our awesome Rā Ngāhere programme. She is interested in promoting learning and exploration in nature and the outdoors. 

Victoria Taylor 

Victoria has a Bachelor of Teaching 0-8. She works alongside Lizzy and Nikki planning for the tuakana children. She has experience with Reggio Emilia which has taught her to create an environment full of curiosity and wonder to enable the children to become creative learners. Victoria also enjoys bringing children together through music and movement and supporting them to become active learners through fun. 

Nikki Gallagher

Nikki is Primary and Early Childhood trained. She has an international teaching diploma in Montessori education and experience working in a Reggio Emilia environment. Nikki works alongside Victoria and Lizzy with the tuakana children (over 3’s) and also works alongside Lisa for our Rā Ngāhere programme. She is passionate about incorporating natural resources as much as possible, the arts and exploration in ECE.

Emilie Vandapuye 

Emilie works at Flippers supporting both the teina and tuakana teaching teams as a Teachers Aide. Emilie has a passion for languages and providing stimulating experiences for children

Monika Gamble 

Monika is the newest member of the Flippers family, working alongside Kim and Lisa with the under 3's. Monika's interests include developmental psychology and the Pikler and RIE approach to care and education. She has had over 10 years experience working with young children as a home based educator.
